Project Supervision & Build Oversight — Classic Sailing Vessels

Restoration, refit and new build of classic and traditional sailing vessels are disciplines of their own. We accompany owners, foundations, associations and yards as independent project supervisors — with on-site build oversight, technical owner representation, interface management and an eye on safety and class requirements.

    Restoration, refit, new build

Whether a full restoration of a gaff-rigger, the refit of a flat-bottom, a topsail schooner or the new build of a traditional sailing vessel: such projects require experience with wooden, steel and mixed constructions, with classic rigs and with safety / class requirements for traditional vessels in commercial or community use.

We accompany every phase — from planning and yard selection through commissioning and sea trial.

    Build oversight and yard supervision

At the yard we are the owner’s eyes and ears. We attend milestones regularly, check execution, material quality, dimensional accuracy, welds / wood joints, fittings and systems, and document status and deviations. Critical points are flagged before they "lock in".

    Safety, class and authorities

For traditional vessels under regulated operation we bring the necessary experience and coordinate with the relevant authorities. We do not name specific certification bodies, but help set up the right interfaces early.

    Owner representation

We speak both owner and yard language — making sure investment decisions, extras and change requests are evaluated, documented and commercially classified cleanly. For foundation and association projects we also support funding and reporting requirements.

    Frequently asked questions

    Do you accompany private owners?
Yes — and associations, foundations and commercial operators. Scope and frequency depend on phase and complexity.
    Which vessel types?
Classics, gaff-riggers, flat-bottoms, multi-mast sailers, wood, steel and mixed constructions — including hybrid new builds with traditional appearance.
    Do you select the yard?
We support yard selection with experience but are not brokers. The owner decides.
    How are you compensated?
Typically hourly or module fee per build phase. A written fee overview is provided before commissioning.
